ABOUT ME

Dr Elizabeth Loh Ka-yee is the Assistant Professor, Assistant Dean (Knowledge Exchange) and Programme Director of Double Degree Programmes of the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong. She is also the Honorary Professor of Radboud Social Science Centre, Radboud University. Her research interests include IT-assisted language learning, effective pedagogies for Chinese as a second language learning, and learning motivation. She has published numerous books, refereed journal articles, and mobile applications in these areas. 

In the role of the principal investigator, she has led a number of large-scale projects funded by University Grant Council (UGC), Quality Education Fund (QEF), Language Fund of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR), the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund), and Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU) @ HKU. She and her teammates have received awards from international research associations and The University of Hong Kong alike in recognition of their contributions to the field of education.

Based on her research findings, an e-learning platform and pedagogy named “mLang” which uses AI and ICT to facilitate second languages teaching and learning established as a start-up company in 2018. As the CEO and Co-Founder of mLang, she committed to providing a better language learning experience to learners of all ages.
