ABOUT ME
Dr Elizabeth Loh Ka-yee is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong. She formerly served as Programme Director of Double Degree Programmes (2017–2025) and as Assistant Dean (Knowledge Exchange) (2019–2024). She is an Adjunct Professor of English Language Education at the Education University of Indonesia (UPI) and a former Honorary Professor at the Radboud Social Science Centre, Radboud University.

Her research interests include IT-assisted language learning, effective pedagogies for Chinese as a first/second language learning and language learning motivation. She has published extensively, including books, refereed journal articles, and mobile applications in these areas.

As a principal investigator, she has led numerous large-scale projects funded by the University Grant Council (UGC), the Quality Education Fund (QEF), the Language Fund of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR), the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund), and Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU) @ HKU. She and her team have received awards from international research associations and HKU in recognition of their contributions to the field of education.

Based on her research findings, she founded an e-learning platform and pedagogy named mLang and mAI Mind which use GenAI and ICT to facilitate the teaching and learning of languages, as a start-up company in 2018. As CEO and Co-Founder of mLang, she is committed to providing a better language learning experience to learners of all ages.
